Creating Data Management Efficiencies for Clients

ORI streamlines reporting with strategic application of technology to create a win-win for national government data collection initiative.

Economic models and financial forecasts depend on the national employment data published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). These BLS reports, in turn, result from the employer records that ORI collects from organizations across the country. In any data collection and analysis initiative, a key goal is to assemble as complete a data set as possible without placing undue burdens on the reporting enterprises. For large multi-state firms, ORI processes electronic information extracted from reporting firms’ payroll systems, transforming file structures and screening for flaws before any data are compiled or analysis begins. By using scalable processes to successfully acquire and check large data files, ORI is able to cost-effectively incorporate almost half of all jobs across the nation into BLS’s tallies. Utilizing technology to accept, validate and edit the largest providers of BLS’s inputs reduces potential sources of error and rapidly produces clean data for users of employment statistics in both public and private sectors.
